Sparring Capital announces the first and final closing of its 3rd fund
at €280m

Sparring Capital announces the successful final closing of its latest investment vehicle, Sparring Capital Fund 3 (SCF 3), at €280 million – exceeding its initial target of €250 million. The Paris-based private equity firm completed the fundraising in a single closing this September, following an accelerated campaign concluded during the summer. The previous fund, Sparring Capital Fund (SCF 2), raised €173 million in 2020.

Launched in January 2025, SCF 3 attracted a highly diversified group of both longstanding and new investors from France, Benelux, the DACH region, and North America. Nearly 90% of the capital was committed by leading institutional investors, including fund-of-funds managers, insurance companies, foundations and sovereign funds.

This successful fundraising builds on Sparring Capital’s strong track record and the confidence investors place in its Value & Transformation strategy. This approach focuses on acquiring majority stakes in robust, growing French SMEs, at disciplined entry valuations, then driving value creation through durable operational transformation.

Over the past decade, the firm has refined a hands-on, partnership-driven investment model that empowers portfolio companies to strengthen governance, accelerate growth, and achieve sustainable excellence. Typical investments target businesses with solid fundamentals that are navigating key transitions such as management succession, shareholder realignment, or repositioning.

Arnaud Leclercq, CEO of Sparring Capital, commented: “We are deeply grateful for the continued trust of our longstanding investors and delighted by the strong interest from new French and international partners. The strong demand for SCF 3 demonstrates the global appeal and lasting relevance of our Value & Transformation strategy, both in today’s complex environment and in more optimistic times.”

Johann Le Duigou, Managing Partner, added: “With SCF 3, we will continue to support fundamentally strong businesses and help transform high-potential French SMEs into market leaders. Our mission remains to create long-term value through disciplined execution and close collaboration with management teams.”

Amala Partners acted as lead fundraising advisor to Sparring Capital, with DLA Piper serving as legal counsel.
