Sparring Opportunities announces the acquisition of a stake in GROUPE CAN

Sparring Opportunities, along with Celda Cd and Celda Mezz, has partnered with GROUPE CAN’s management to take over the company from its founder, Michel Richard.
Sparring Opportunities announces the acquisition of a stake in GROUPE CAN, a leading player specialized in high-altitude and difficult-access works. This investment is made alongside Cédric Moscatelli, CEO of GROUPE CAN, and approximatively twenty key executives. Sparring, accompanied by Celda for this transaction, is investing through its Responsible Growth Fund (ReG Fund), which is dedicated to fostering responsible and sustainable growth. As part of the fund’s “Environmental Transition” vertical, this investment ensures the company’s succession and long-term sustainability while reinforcing its critical role in securing infrastructure and preserving natural environments as they adapt to climate change. Additionally, the transaction aims to support GROUPE CAN’s growth both in France and internationally.
Founded in 1977 by Michel Richard, CAN has established itself as a key player in difficult-access works, offering advanced technical expertise in areas such as cliff stabilization, infrastructure security, and natural hazard prevention. As extreme weather events become more frequent, this expertise is becoming increasingly essential to meet the growing demand for resilient and sustainable infrastructure and environmental protection solutions. The Group combines technical excellence, innovation, and safety to address specific needs of clients across various sectors, including construction, energy, and transportation infrastructure.
Under the leadership of Cédric Moscatelli and his teams, GROUPE CAN has experienced significant growth in recent years, leveraging its unique expertise, highly skilled teams, and ability to tackle complex challenges. Today, the Group generates a turnover of €75 million and employs nearly 350 people.
With Sparring Opportunities, GROUPE CAN will strengthen its financial and strategic resources, expand its service offerings, invest in innovative solutions, and pursue a targeted acquisition strategy to enhance its market presence and expertise.
Cédric Moscatelli, CEO of GROUPE CAN, stated: « With Sparring Opportunities support, we will be able to accelerate our growth plans, and continue delivering innovative, tailor-made solutions to our clients. We are excited to embark on this new chapter alongside the Sparring team. »
Denis Catz, CEO of Sparring Opportunities, added: « GROUPE CAN plays a crucial role in addressing climate change challenges. Its expertise and ability to operate in the most complex environments make it a key player in driving this transformation. We are thrilled to support Cédric Moscatelli and his teams in their project. »
Thought this investment, Sparring Opportunities reaffirms its commitment to supporting high-potential companies in their transformation and growth phases, with a strong focus on creating both economic and environmental value.
